We Took Part in a Historic Event, on Saturday 21, 2017, as we gathered for the Women’s March on Washington – Fairbanks! Here in Fairbanks we are shining a bright during these dark times. It was almost -20F outside when we Marched, but we were warmed by community spirit and the fire of resistance in our bellies. Our solidarity with folks across the globe will go down in history!
Everyone had their own reasons for marching that stem from our unique, beautiful and complicated histories. Let’s unite and see how our individual interests intersect as a community and harness our shared enthusiasm. Let’s grow and learn from each other. Let’s continue to reach out, assemble, and organize. Let’s serve each other and our community at large. Let’s roll up our sleeves and build a strong #indivisible resistance. Let’s continue building this new community and embrace this new golden age of activism.
This is the upside of the downside. This is an outpouring of energy, and true democracy like I have never seen in my very long life. It is wide in age, it is deep in diversity, and remember, the Constitution does not begin with “I the president,” it begins with “we the people.”
“If we — the millions of Americans who believe in common decency, in the greater good, in justice for all — if we fall into the trap by separating ourselves by our causes and our labels, then we will weaken our fight and we will lose. But if we commit to what aligns us, if we stand together steadfast and determined, then we stand a chance of saving the soul of our country.”
– America Ferrera
Let’s always pull together like we did on Saturday and use LOVE not hate to make America great. #RevolutionaryLove
